KYC & AML Policy
Legal requirement
Meetrub implements KYC and AML controls under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act 2002 (PMLA) and RBI guidelines applicable to payment intermediaries.
KYC requirements — Freelancers
KYC is mandatory before first withdrawal. Required documents:
- PAN card — mandatory for TDS compliance under Section 194-O.
- Aadhaar card, Passport, or Voter ID — identity verification.
- Bank account details with cancelled cheque or bank statement — payout verification.
- GSTIN — required only if annual taxable turnover exceeds Rs. 20 lakhs.
KYC requirements — Creators
- GST-registered creators must provide GSTIN for B2B invoicing and ITC claims.
- Billing name and address required for invoice generation.
- For orders above Rs. 2,00,000, additional identity verification may be requested.
AML controls
- Meetrub monitors transactions for unusual patterns — unusually large orders, rapid payment succession, or inconsistencies with stated account purpose.
- Meetrub may freeze funds, suspend accounts, and report suspicious transactions to FIU-IND as required under PMLA.
- Meetrub will not process transactions structured to avoid reporting thresholds.
- Freelancers may not use the Meetrub wallet as a banking or money transfer facility.
Document verification
- KYC documents reviewed by admin within 2 business days of submission.
- Rejected documents receive a clear reason and opportunity to resubmit.
- KYC documents stored encrypted and not shared except as required by law.
